People from as far away as Europe, come to the Oregon Coast to enjoy these perfect kite-flying conditions and participate in healthy competitions. CARL BRAGIEL is a One Man Kite Team, has been flying three dual line sport kites for 11 years. In order to perfect his show, Carl began by flying over 30 hours per week, totaling close to 2000 hours in the first year alone. Before going public with his show in 1994, he flew in all weather conditions; he tangled lines, ripped sails, and broke many kite frames. Assisted by his wife Lisa, Carl is one of just three people in North America and one of a handful of people in the world who can fly three dual line kites simultaneously.

If you are an expert, you will welcome with open arms the clean air that rolls in from the Pacific Ocean. If a novice, you’re definitely going to notice a difference in wind conditions. During the outdoor kite festivalss in Lincoln City, there are competitions, Japanese flying battles, workshops, and demonstrations. The two outdoor festivals during the summer and fall seasons are held on the beach.

The first Lincoln City indoor kite festival was hosted in 2004. It was helded during the winter months. This makes kite flying on the Oregon Coast a year-round activity. No wind exists and the gracefulness of an indoor kite is almost like watching a ballet or professional ice skating.

The Indoor Kite festival will be held at Taft High School at 3780 SE Spyglass Ridge, just two blocks east of Highway 101 at High School Drive. This great family entertainment and education opportunity. There will also be times in the schedule for you grab a kite and learn from the Indoor experts.
