Do you need to speak Spanish when travelling?
As someone who teaches people to speak Spanish on a daily basis, one of the main reasons people give me for wanting to learn Spanish is so that they can have an easier time of travelling.
And these people often ask me, “Anthony, will it actually help me getting around these countries, or am I just wasting my time?”. And my answer is always the same, a resounding Yes!
If you are interested in travelling to any Spanish speaking countries, then I highly advise you to learn Spanish. While many people speak English well, being able to speak Spanish will mean that your experience is just so much better.
If you do actually learn Spanish, then you will get so much more out of your holiday. You won’t just be another tourist to the locals, you will be given much more respect once people realise that you’ve made the effort to learn their language, something that is rare from tourists from western countries.
I’ve had a few experiences in my travels that are testament to this. I was once on a train that was taking a different route that particular day. If I didn’t speak Spanish, I would’ve ended up miles away from my destination.
But handy things like that are only the beginning, the friends you will make by speaking Spanish abroad will far outweigh any other benefits of Speaking Spanish overseas.
So, if you are wanting to travel to Spanish speaking countries and don’t speak any Spanish, I highly recommend that you make a start right away. The sooner the better as far as I’m concerned.
While you may think learning a language is hard (learning a language in school never worked for anyone) you would be wrong. Learning a language is easy! If little kids can do it easily, then why can’t you? Sign up for some free lessons on my webpage and start learning the Spanish you’ve always wanted to.
