Wedding Party Games: Focusing On The Table Centrepiece

The question of who is going to get to take home the centerpiece can sometimes be a discussion point at the wedding celebraions dinner tables, particularly if the centerpiece is particularly elegant or unusual.

Creating a party game of who gets the centerpiece, can usually be an amusing pastime and one many wedding guests will relish participating in. Here are some ideas for giving away that wedding reception table centerpiece.

One of the most popular ways brides give away the table centerpieces is to place a number under the centerpiece and allocate every guest a number. During the evening, a number is called, each guest checks his or her number and whoever has that number wins the centerpiece. There are a number of ways to put a twist on this traditional activity.

Another fun activity for divvying up the centerpieces is to require the wedding guests to produce a particular item. The wedding MC goes from table to table, announcing what the wedding guests at that particular table will be required to produce in order to get the centerpiece. Maybe it’s a a mint or a Georgia quarter, or a doctor’s appointment card. Whatever it is, the guest at each table who shows the desired item will receive the centerpiece.

You can always keep it very simple and give the centerpiece to the oldest person at each table, or the person who took the finish college. Or maybe you could create an activity where the person who has the oddest talent (as voted on by fellow guests at the table) wins the centerpiece. And it is even better if that person shows off the talent for all the guests at the reception.

If you like musical chairs, you can play a game of musical dollar bills in order to find a winner of the centrepiece. Someone takes out a one-dollar bill and music starts playing. The dollar bill is passed around the table and when the music stops, whoever is holding the dollar bill wins the centerpiece. Or this activitu can be played more traditionally with the person with the dollar bill being eliminated, and the activity continues until only one person is holding the dollar bill. That one person receives the centerpiece

Other enjoyable, and fairly traditional ideas include the birthday guests be awarded the centerpiece. At each table, the person who has a birthday nearest to the wedding date wins the centerpiece. Or if there are married couples at the table, the couple who have been married the longest receive the centerpiece, or the couple who were married most recently. Or the centerpiece could be given to the person with the longest hair, or the strangest shoes (again, this would be voted on by guests at the same table).

Party activities are a good way for the wedding master of ceremonies to help wedding guests get to know their fellow guest.
