What Items Are Generally Forgotten As A Camping Accessory?
Many items are forgotten as an important camping accessory each time we leave our home and drive off into the sunset. By the time you realize you don’t have the camping accessory with you, it’s much too late to ever turn back. This means we either spend more money at some very expensive gas station or we act stubborn, and be angry for days on end because we no longer have what we depend on. Let’s discuss just a couple of accessories that are often long forgotten before we ever know it. These items may be small in comparison to what you are thinking right now, but they can also make all the difference in how efficiently your camping trip pans out. Batteries Are Often A Camping Accessory That is Forgotten When you are rustic camping, there is no electricity anywhere to be found and some of our important items, like our radios, are battery powered. I can’t tell you the number of times we took an old, beat up radio into the woods, only to remember we forgot to pack the batteries. Needless to say, we ended up without any music or access to weather conditions, and that could have been a disaster. Batteries are a must-add camping accessory and should be added to your camping list. Your flashlights will run on battery as well, and you just never really know when your batteries may finally bite the dust. Now, what if you were, in lets say, only the second day of a seven-day outing? You better hope then, you decided to go camping when the moon is full, or you will have long, dark nights once your campfire dies down. Another Long Forgotten Camping Accessory Is Your Can Opener Oh the joy of getting all settled in at your campsite and pitching up your tent, only to discover you can’t open a single one of your can items! Let me tell you, this could mean the difference between continuing your camping trip or going home. As a camping accessory, your can opener serves as a lid cutter necessary to make lunch and dinner. I suppose it’s no big deal, if of course, you have other types of foods with you or you are capable of fishing to connect with your next meal. In this case, it’s just a nuisance, because now your backpack won’t be any lighter on the trudge down the side of the mountain. A Flashlight Or Lantern Can Be Forgotten As A Camping Accessory, Because It’s Still Sitting In Your Driveway! Once again, unless you are camping under the stars in the whole moonlight, you will need to have a flashlight or a lantern. Yet, this is a commonly forgotten camping accessory. I believe this is most likely due to the fact we are usually leaving our homes in the daylight, and not thinking about when it’s going to be dark. When we forgot our lantern, we had it on our list, but left it in the driveway. Of course we didn’t realize we left the lantern behind until we were almost to the rustic spot we were camping at, and well, we weren’t going back to get another one!
