Why water aerobics is such good exercise

Ask any personal trainer or orthopedic doctor what exercise is the best for general conditioning or getting back nto shape after a layoff or injury and the unanimous answer will be… water aerobics.
It is an exercise that works all muscle groups but is non weight bearing, meaning less stress and strain. But the muscles are really worked against the gentle resistance of the water so that they quickly stretch and strengthen.
There’s a boom in water workout instruction these days, with health clubs and community centers trying hard to meet the demand with more classes.
It’s a great way to lose weight, too, with a water workout burning calories at a rate generally equal to the calories expended in one of those jumping and knee-pounding land aerobic classes.
